1. The backbone of the middle class, manufacturing jobs are being sent to third world countries and countries with more favorable corporation taxes.
This has forced us to take jobs at McDonalds, Walmart, etc. that are very low paying. These jobs were previously done by teenagers for additional spending money and/or those with no skills and no history of employment. Now those who need to support their families are forced to take those jobs because the higher paying jobs have been sent to Ireland China, Indonesia, Viet Nam, Mexico, etc. Companies are setting up offshore subsidiaries to avoid taxes on profits by paying high mark-ups in foreign countries that do not show the real profits.
The movement to raise the minimum wage is the direct result of not enough jobs to create competition. As an example, in Arizona there was a huge outcry because Walmart was paying only $7.85 per hour. However, in the Dakotas, where the competition for people was high due to the oilfields, Walmart was advertising jobs foe $17.50 per hour.
This can and MUST be fixed!
2. Our government has forgotten the precepts that made this country great, specifically "Government for the people".
Our current government has forgotten they need to do what is best for the people, not what is best for their party. Cooperation between parties has disintegrated into what can best be described as a "DOGFIGHT". This is true of both Republicans and Democrats and all phases of government. The congress passes bills with no hope of being signed to irritate the President and the President rails like a Banshee about how bad the congress is. The people are frustrated and divided.
As Lincoln stated a house divided against itself can not stand.
This can and MUST be fixed!
3. Our country's prestige is diminished. We were once considered the most powerful country on earth and the leader of the free world. Now, through a variety of actions, we have lost those accolades.
Again, this is not the work of one party or one president, although the diminishment has been much greater the last few years. It started with the "Weapons of Mass Destruction" that were never found (or never existed). We sent our troops into Iraq and Afghanistan for no legitimate reason and with no hope of changing the people of those countries. Afghanistan in particular has been invaded several times before us and there is and never was any chance of changing that country to our liking. Yet we went, supposedly to capture Osama Bin Laden but stayed after he was eliminated.
Recently we have backed down form Russia's attempts to rebuild the USSR. Our attempts to "punish" Putin has increased his popularity. He continues to maintain weapons and "others involved in military actions" despite our sanctions.
Now he is dictating to us on such matters as Iran's ridiculous agreement (which to the best of my knowledge has never been signed by Iran), where we can fly in Syria and who we are told to leave in power in Syria. I learned long ago that the only way to deal with a bully is to stand up to him. We backed away from him and let him do what he wants.
We must reestablish the United State as the most important country in the world.
We can turnaround the perception that the American dream is dead. I have some suggestions I will make in the near future.
